5 habits that changed my life
Change is inevitable, we all know that. Whether it is you moving or adopting a new habit, the world is constantly changing with ourselves included. This leads to us having to take new forms of living to make our lives better. Habits are a great way because they're beneficial to one's physical or mental health. Regardless, having too much structure doesn't leave space for spontaneity, but having certain things in your life that are stable has huge benefits. Your productivity and happiness increase as you get rid of everything 'that's not aligning with the person you want to be and the life you want to live.
Over the past years, I've learned and incorporated new ways to make my life better. Do remember that the ones you apply, regardless of if 'they're these ones; could be as small or big as you want. From drinking lemon water in the morning to running every day to clear your mind; they can be whatever they need to be for you.
Meditation. Above all, achieving mindfulness has helped me in all aspects of life. We sometimes get carried away with the idea of success and value, and meditation helps clear the mind and stops thinking. I understood that the brain reacts to everything, and yet, with so many thoughts in a day, it doesn't reveal anything else but the obvious. I love using the calm app since I prefer guided meditations, but you do what works best for you.
Writing. This is something I do every day, whether it is on my notes or in my 5-year journal. Everything worth writing or something you don't want to forget should be documented. Doing this has helped me clear my mind and keeps me sane. For me, it's not that structured, but I know people who religiously write specific things every day. Whatever works and feels better for you, I suggest you do.
Healthy Social Media use. This depends a lot on your work and what you use social media for, I even talk about some of its benefits in one of my latest articles (Check it out here!). For me, a big part of being balanced is healthily using social media. I took some time to declutter and unfollowed all people who affected me negatively. Being on Social Media could go either way, so it's essential to put your mental health first.
Seeking purpose in everything I do. Purpose gives life meaning, and 'sit's ok if you don't know what is yours in the big scheme. Do try to always have an intention in mind. Do you want to eat healthier? Why? Are you trying to lose weight or just treat your body better? Purpose motivates you and helps you achieve your goals.
Being Grateful. This allows me to not take anything for granted. We often forget to give thanks for the little things and find ourselves complaining. There are countless things we can be grateful for, and focusing on negative ones will get us nowhere. If it has a solution, why do you worry, and if it doesn't, then why bother?
